Loved. loved, loved this book. I didn't rush through it, but stepped in slowly, savored it, reading more and more slowly as I approached the final chapter, so it wouldn't end. I didn't know much about Lord Byron beyond the legend, and after reading "The Wicked Lord Byron" by Richard Deakin, I feel informed not only life of the poet but the inner motivations behind his wild adventures. Deakin's insightful novel removes the barriers of our modern age and sensibilities, and with deft strokes of language, lit from within, paints a time, place and person long gone from the earth but still vibrant in Deakin's magical novel.
