Product Description Red Heart the Ticker is not from any planet other than Earth. For the Wicked, their first full length album, was recorded in a neighbor's timber frame barn in Southern Vermont (note cricket sounds on a song or two), and in a apartments in NYC and Boston. Their haunting and eclectic sound has been compared to the Innocence Mission, the Cowboy Junkies, Wilco, and Emmylou Harris. The album was produced by the band and put out on the home-spun Poorly Bird Records. About the Artist Red Heart the Ticker is Tyler Gibbons and Robin MacArthur, and numerous friends who come and go depending. The band lives in Philadelphia, PA, and Marlboro, VT.
I bought this CD because of the song "Steel Toe Drinking," which I was introduced to on Pandora and which I love. The rest of the album is very good, but I am still, frankly, getting used to the stylistic uniqueness of this group/duo. They seem to be creating their own pathway within contemporary folk-rock, which I admire, and they have an interesting project now in which fans subscribe and get new songs every few weeks via email. Anyway, I haven't made up my mind, but this CD is definitely good and worth hearing.
