I am a Certified Arborist. I work aloft, everyday. I get tired of calling down to my ground guys to send up pole sections so I can use my saw head to cut limbs I can't get right up to. I bought this unit so I could climb with it. As soon as I got it, I had second thoughts: it's bulky, on the heavy side, and takes a while to open and set. On the job, I was less than impressed: The saw head is tough to use. It is a fairly hard pull to get the teeth set, and the cut does not flow smoothly. The head is also too short. The only reason I'm keeping this unit is because I need some tax write-offs, this year. Otherwise, it would definitely be going back. UPDATE: 5/26/16: I've now had this thing for a year and a half. It sits in the truck 95% of the time. The head tightening hook faces the wrong way. You tighten into the hook, against its opening, instead of with it. Poor design. There's no way to hang the unit, safely. You can fold the head and try to hook it on a limb, but it's dicey. It's too heavy to comfortably extend when you're aloft. It doesn't cut that great. NOT RECOMMENDED.THIS IS DEFINETLY THE RIGHT SAW! I PURCHASED IT FOR ARCHERY HUNTING / CUTTING SHOOTING LANES, AND AM VERY SATISIFIED WITH IT! IT IS BUILT SOLID, RUGGED, AND TOUGH TO TAKE ANYTHING I DISH OUT! IT REACHES 12 FEET, WHICH IS BETTER THAN THE HOOEYMAN - HOWEVER IT IS MORE THAN TWICE THE PRICE, WHICH IS THE DOWNSIDE. I HAVE A GERBER FOR THE SAME PURPOSE, HOWEVER IT IS ONLY 6 FEET LONG IF THAT, AND I HAVE DONE "STUPID" THINGS IN MY TREESTAND WITH IT - LIKE REACHING OUT TOO FAR TO CUT THAT ONE BRANCH THAT IS ALWAYS IN THE WAY, AND HAD A FEW "EXCITING" MOMENTS DOING THAT - BUT NOW NO MORE! IT CUTS BETTER, HAS A LONGER AND MUCH MORE STURDY BLADE, AND WILL LAST MY LIFETIME! THE CONECTIONS ARE ALL METAL, NOT PLASTIC, SO I AM SURE THAT IT WILL NOT WEAR OUT. I JUSTIFIED THIS PURCHASE AS "SAFETY EQUIPMENT", BECAUSE NOW I KNOW I WILL NOT BE REACHING OUT TOO FAR WITH AN INFERIOR SAW WHICH IS TOO SMALL FOR THE JOB. LIKE DADDY SAID, IF YOU BUY THE BEST, YOU ONLY CRY ONCE!NOT as advertised. The head doesn't fold. Also, mine was just thrown in the box in pieces, the zip ties holding everything together were cut. For the money you'd think you'd get betterI am glad I tried another one, because it works very well. I like its size a lot. The blade could be sharper, but it is not bad. Pole saws are hard to use but this one is very light weight. I am pleased. The locking mechanism that failed on my first purchase is not a problem this time, but I am still cautious when using it. The Wicked Tough pole saw is a great back up and small job saw, I love it.Ok, so I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of reviews. Decided to get the shorter heavy duty version. I received one that was marked longer and the head had to be attached verses folding out and locking in place. I thought at first that they sent the lighter duty version but the attached instructions showed the head folding out so apparently the company made a design change and didn't even bother to change the instructions. I send the company two emails explaining the situation offering a chance to explain/fix the situation before I returned it and left this review and they didnt bother to answer. In short, I was not sent what was advertised. This is not what is in the photos. You will get a saw, but not the one that folds. Buyer be aware!Great idea, great idea but cheaply manufactured. Bought it September 6th and have used it a handful of times. Went to use it today and the head was wobbly. Figured I hadn’t righted the retaining screw. When I looked at the cast transition piece, connects handle to the saw, completely failed. The saw is absolutely useless. It has been stored inside my shop and has been taken care of. Anyway, buy something else. Look at the silky saws. That is what I plan to do.Had a Hooeyman 10 foot saw that completely fell apart after only owning a year. I was looking for alternatives. While a high price tag, the product is worth it. It cuts better than the Hooeyman, and is 2 feet longer.I did have issues with the one of the adjustment bolts being broken upon arrival, but the problem was quickly rectified.
