THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!! Look out Lita fans, the Queen is back! And it seems she's back with a vengeance. I actually went to watch a movie this weekend, and low and behold, the theater was playing new Lita material. Kind of blew my mind. So I was happy when I got home and noticed that my pre-ordered copy (from Amazon) was in my mailbox. Being a big fan of both Lita Ford and Jim Gillette, I was excited to hear this CD. I remember hearing bits and pieces of Jim singing backgrounds on her last release from 15 years ago, titled BLACK, so I was VERY excited to hear two of my favorite singers doing something new, even if it was just Jim doing harmonies and a few duets. So I listened to the new CD, once, twice, three times, then I decided to write a review.First I want to say, this is not your `old style' Lita. This is some brand new stuff that has a mixture of old hardcore fun riffs, with a sort of Nine Inch/Marilyn Manson approach. And Lita's voice sounds amazing; I believe she's sounding better than she ever has. I like how well Lita and Jim's voices blend together throughout the CD as well. So here is my breakdown of the entire CD:1. Crave- Great Opener. Sex-n-riff driven, hard rocking, with great guitar sounds and Gillette really adds to the chorus.2. Piece (Hell Yeah)-This will be the biggest song in all strip bars! Perfect groove for the girls!3. Patriot SOB- This record truly is a family affair. This track opens with the kids reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and then kicks in with the drums, opening into a hard rocking track. You can really hear Lita's husband, Jim Gillette, in the overlaid harmonies for which he was known in Nitro, on this song. Lita is really rockin'!4. Scream 4 Me-Although this new release is entirely different than what we are used to hearing from Lita, this song has the same fun drive as earlier releases. Lita sings with such sexiness on these songs, and Gillette supplies backups that have an almost androgynous tone. Love the fact that that she uses the term "Freight Train" throughout the song.5. Inside-First true duet on this CD, between Jim and Lita. Very laid back and haunting, but don't be thinking "Close My Eyes"; this song is definitely driven by their intense sexual passion for each other. A very different kind of love song!6. Wicked Wonderland-Album title track. Almost makes me feel like I've fell down the rabbit hold and landed in whips and chains. Lita has that same powerful, in your face tone. I could hear this song playing in a porn shop. It also has those awesome Nitro harmonies.7. Indulge-It has a sort of Marilyn Manson approach without sounding like Marilyn. Straight forward drive, with perfectly mixed, but eerie harmonies, with those Nine Inch Nails types keyboard sounds. In a full on duet, Jim's voice is eerily sexy. If I could sum up this song in three words, it would be "Sex On Halloween".8. Love-Another great song. Lita's voice really shines on this one. Time to add this to the strip club play list. Some of the harmonies kind of drill right through your head and the background guitar sex groove is right there driving the harmonies deeper into your mind. I love songs that have surprises. Just when I thought this song ended, it sneaks back in like a heartbeat. You'll understand what I mean when you listen to it.9. Betrayal- Love the intro scream. Here is another Gillette featurette. It's crazy how their voices change in tone throughout this CD. On this song, Gillette sounds as if he could sing "Word Up" by the Gap Band. But don't fool yourself. This is no Gap band remix, this is definitely a war song. I can see a cage match brewing. Then all of a sudden, Lita channel's Jimi Hendrix on guitar and it changes the mood. Cool riffs Lita! I think this is the song that's featured on the new video game BRUTAL LEGEND.10. Sacred-This is the song my wife and I heard in the movie theater. It played on screen with the pre-videos. Wife loved it and I just smiled, and said, "I know who that is". This song should be on the radio. This is ballad between Jim and Lita and shows me that they each found their Soulmate. Perfect homage to each other.11. Truth-Like the vocal approach Lita is using on this song. Straight ahead rock. Her words are syncopated through the chorus, which is very cool and a little different for Lita. Great Lita Ford signature guitar solo on this song too.12. Everything-Being a keyboard player, I like this song. Cool sounds, little piano in the background...And Jim adds some nasty vocals on it too. I felt as if they were going for that "Twilight Zone" type feeling/groove in the beginning of the song, and by the middle, I knew I was right. Put on your headphones, crank em up, play this song, and leave the drugs alone...You won't need em, this song will do the trick, haha.13. Bed-I have a feeling Jim and Lita wrote this song in bed. Hey guys, play this song for your wives and I bet it improves your love life. Might remind em of your first date;)14. Garden-1st bonus track. Cool off beat groove through the verses, into a straight forward chorus. Lita has this "singing through a tunnel" sound, that makes you feel like you are a little kid, trying to look through a hole into the peep show; you don't wanna get caught, but you can't turn your head. I am pretty sure Lita is telling us she's forbidden fruit. You can look but you cannot touch. ;-)15. Push-I like this song. Glad they added it as a bonus, but I feel that it has more value than just a `bonus'. Reflecting on my earlier Hendrix comment, this song puts me in the mind of a raw, rock 70's type song. Love the guitar tone mix. Like to hear this one on the radio....And that sums it all up folks, Whether you are a die-hard Lita fan from years ago or you are someone new who just heard Lita for the first time while at the movies check it out. This album is sure to be a favorite...PS- The whole layout of the CD case, including artwork, booklet, etc. is simply amazing!
